Serbian Orthodox Diocese condemns the vandal attack on the memorial plaque to Serb harvesters at Staro Gracko village

COMMUNIQUE

Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raška-Prizren strongly condemns the vandal attack on the memorial plaque to Serb harvesters at Staro Gracko killed by extremists immediately after the Kosovo war in summer 1999. The attack in which the memorial plaque was broken and a graffito with the word “Revenge” (in Albanian) is another crime against Serbs of this region who have been waiting for justice and truth for the last 18 years. The attackers obliterated the cross which stood above the memorial plaque which indicates possible intentions and ideology behind the attack.

The latest incident in Staro Gracko comes as the last in a series of incidents last days which shows that the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija has deteriorated. Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raška-Prizren appeals on all relevant institutions to do all in their power to preserve peace and order and bring the perpetrators of the lastest vandal attack to justice.
