Bishop Atanasije, administrator of the Diocese of Raska and Prizren, arrives in Gracanica Monastery
The newly appointed administrator of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija Bishop Atanasije (retired Bishop of Zahumlje and Herzegovina) arrived this afternoon in Gracanica Monastery to assume the duty of the administrator of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija. Bishop Atanasije was welcomed by Vicar Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan with monks, regional administrators, the abbess of Gracanica Monastery Mother Efrosinija and the abbess of Devic Monastery Mother Anastasija and the sisters.
After a short prayer service in the Gracanica church Bishop Atanasije addressed the clergy, monks and nuns who were present with a relevant homily in which he informed them that by the decision of the Holy Synod of bishops he had arrived to assume the duty of administrator of the Diocese of Raska and Prizren. After prayers in the church Bishop Atanasije stayed to speak with the present clergy, monks and nuns.
Bishop Atanasije stressed that special efforts would be made to intensify pastoral life and liturgical life in the restored churches in order to create stronger ties between the faithful and the Church and that would personally actively tour the Diocese in order to lend courage to the faithful in the present situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
